David Muir Celebrates “World News” Promotion with Gotham Magazine Feature

He’s stepping into Diane Sawyer’s shoes as the new anchor of “World News” and David Muir couldn’t be more deserving of the high-profile gig.
In his new interview with Gotham magazine, the 40-year-old journalist isn’t quite sure he lives up to the popular notion that he’s “the Brad Pitt of newsmen,” though he affirms Peter Jennings’ “James Bond” reputation- “I think I have to apologize to Brad Pitt, but Peter was James Bond.”
Regarding his affinity for Twitter, David notes, “Peter didn’t have this in his office. But I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. While I’m on the air, they can tweet me. I’ll often write back during a commercial break. We’re accessible, and that’s a great advantage.”
Mr. Muir, a Syracuse native, has a deep love for New York City- “I have a lot of fun here; the energy of the city fuels me. You go out for one evening and come back with 10 story ideas.
I love biking to a little red lighthouse sitting in the shadow of the George Washington Bridge. I also love the Empire State Building. It’s open until 2 AM, and if you go late, there are no lines. I still get butterflies looking out at the skyline.”
And as could be expected, David struggles to carve out quiet time in his busy life- “I’m probably one of a few people who looks forward to epic 12-hour flights back from the Middle East or Africa. I can sleep and catch up on my reading without interruption.”

Jerry Seinfeld Covers Wired &Talks Digital Etiquette

Given his background in the entertainment business and his massive net worth, Jerry Seinfeld has a unique perch above our rapidly-developing, tech-crazy society.
The “Bee Movie” star is featured on the cover of Wired magazine’s July 2014 issue and in his interview he shares some tips for “how not to be a jerk in the digital age.”
Seinfeld suggests ditching Google Glass for the time being- “Between the in-group tiered rollout and the $1,500 price point, Glass is an in-your-face marker of social class – a symbol of self importance that suggest the wearer has too much money and too little fashion sense — and that’s caused a backlash.”
“It’s banned from restaurants, a woman was assaulted for wearing Glass inside a San Francisco dive bar, and a group called Stop the Cyborgs is campaigning for Glass-free zones. So for now, wear Glass only when the technology it will eventually supplant is heavily prevalent. Dive bar? No. Tech conference with 75 percent of the people on a laptop or cellphone? Yes.”
Additionally, Jerry encourages drunken Tinder activity- “Tinder and intoxication are meant for each other. That’s because they tap into the same kind of behavior. ‘When intoxicated, you’re making decisions based on a fragment of understanding,’ says social psychologist Claude Steele. A mere four photos and a tagline forces people to make decisions based on a cursory grasp of the situation. A sober person might balk at those limitations. Let those worrywarts obsess over their OkCupid profiles!”
And when it comes to posting pictures of your children, simmer down! “It’s tempting to saturate your social media feeds with your child’s awesomeness. But what begins as a desire to share your tyke’s first steps can quickly devolve into a hunt for Likes, faves, and comments.”
“At this point you have become a stage mom, with all the attendant’s issues. ‘The child may begin to feel responsible for their parent’s happiness, and that’s quite a burden to carry,’ says Leslie Anderson, a University of Manitoba researcher who has studied child actors. So yes, share some cute pictures. But don’t set your kid on the same path as the cast of Diff’rent Strokes.”
Finally, it’s perfectly acceptable to view R-rated movies on flights- “Coach class isn’t a Puritan church service, and you shouldn’t feel ashamed about watching a video with a little bump-and-grind. Your real concern is noise. ‘The biggest complaint we get about electronic devices, by far, is that they’re too loud,’ says Shawn Kathleen, a veteran flight attendant. We’re pretty good a keeping our eyes to ourselves, but not so much our ears. So while the occasional flash of buttocks is fine, make sure that nothing audible disturbs your neighbors.”

Angel Haze on Relationship with Ireland Baldwin: “We F**k and Friends Don’t F**k”

After showing PDA on multiple outings, bisexual rapper Angel Haze finally discussed her relationship with Ireland Baldwin last week.
While chatting with The Independent, the 22-year-old Detroit native revealed that she is, indeed, dating Alec’s daughter.
“I don’t know if there’s like some confirm or deny thing with the way relationships work in the media, but everyone just calls us best friends, best friends for life, like we’re just friends hanging out,” Angel told the publication. “It’s funny. It’s rad in some ways, it sucks in others.”
Ireland and Angel met during New York Fashion Week through Baldwin’s cousin.
“There are still certain limitations for women,” Haze continued. “If we were two guys, it’d be insane, negatively insane with the attention. With us it’s all being very positive, the media are like, ‘Oh they’re so cute, they’re best friends.’”
"An interracial gay couple, I mean that’s just weird for America right now. We f**k and friends don’t f**k. I have never f**ked one of my friends. Once I see you in that way, it doesn’t happen. But we do f**k and it’s crazy and that’s weird to say because I think about it in terms of an audience reading it and them thinking, ‘What the hell?’ But it happens.”

Kristen Bell Discusses No Kids Policy in Glamour July 2014: “No Child Should Be Fair Game"

She's a strong advocate for children's safety when it comes to paparazzi, and Kristen Bell opened up to Glamour magazine about her No Kids Policy and why it's so important.
After posing for Jason Bell in the July 2014 issue of the magazine, the "Veronica Mars" beauty chatted about the media's opportunity for improvement and how her career choice affects her daughter, Lincoln.
Check out highlights from Kristen's interview below and for more, head over to Glamour!
On how her career choices affect her child:
“I signed up to be an actor, and I understand there are consequences. My daughter, on the other hand, should not have to accept that lifestyle because of the choices I made. There’s a very big difference between a mother taking a photo of her baby and a kid coming out of school followed by 10 strange men with cameras. A child can’t comprehend the media machine; she feels hunted.”
On the media’s opportunity for improvement:
“‘We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.’ I love that quote because it means we can all be a little bit better tomorrow than we are today, a little bit kinder.”
On her message to paparazzi:
“No child should be fair game.”

Jenny Slate Dishes on Getting Fired from "SNL" in Glamour July 2014

She continues to make us crack up on the "Kroll Show," and now Jenny Slate is getting a little more serious and talking about career tips in the July 2014 issue of Glamour.
During her interview, the former "SNL" babe talks about getting fired from the popular sketch comedy show and how to deal with a life-altering situation.
Check out highlights from Jenny's interview below and for more, head over to Glamour!
On being fired from Saturday Night Live:
“Lorne and I never talked when I was fired at the end of the season; I got the news online. I've still never watched the clip of my f**k-up. That'd be like watching yourself fall down the aisle at your wedding! I feel like it happened to somebody else, and I want to tell her, 'Oh, girl. I'm so sorry, but you need to move on.’”
On wallowing after a work screwup:
“When I was fired, I ordered 50 million pizzas and invited all of my friends over. It's important to let yourself go through all the emotions. But if you start seeing yourself as a victim rather than as all of the other amazing things you could be, it's time to snap out of it. It took me a few years to get back to myself; I developed stage fright, so I went to a hypnotist. But quiet contemplation isn't all it takes to get you through a screwup. Join a meditation group; go on vacation. Do something. (Just don't become an alcoholic.)”
On keeping perspective:
“I'm the girl who wanted to get an A in school and had never been fired before. It's embarrassing to be fired publicly. Rejection is hard! That's a normal human response. But there are a lot of people who do terrible things, and I know I'm not one of them. Everything Ann Coulter says on TV is a billion times worse than any swearword I've ever said. Remember, one day we'll all be 81 years old and not give a sh*t about the mistakes we made.”
On owning your talents:
“It's easy to feel that your job is the only thing that matters, but get out of that mind-set. After my mistake, I thought I didn't have the right to be creative anymore, but my husband told me, 'You were creative before, and you'll be creative after—it's in your nature.' He was right. That's when we created Marcel the Shell [the character that launched 30 million YouTube hits and a book deal], and now I'm in every scene of a movie. I always wanted to be a movie actress, have a female body, and own lots of purses. Now that's really happening!”

Kesha Talks Eating Disorder in Teen Vogue August 2014

She’s had a ton of ups and downs throughout her life and career, and Kesha sounds like she’s stronger than ever in her cover story for Teen Vogue.
The “Your Love is My Drug” singer kicks things off with the obvious topic that’s on everybody’s mind these days.
"Let's just get the elephant out of the room. My eating disorder is something I've been struggling with for a while. People will make up stories, but I went to rehab for an eating disorder—nothing more and nothing less."
Kesha continued, "Making my last record, Warrior, was a pretty miserable process, and it wore my spirit down. I was fighting like hell to keep my whole irreverent essence and everything raw and visceral that I stand for in it, but in the end I was promoting something that wasn't the animal I wanted it to be. I decided to face my problem head-on."
But now that she’s taken time to tweak her own life, the “TiK ToK” songstress is ready to jump back into the arena. "My whole message is to love who you are and accept all your beautiful imperfections. When I felt I was slipping into unloving territory with myself, I knew I had to listen to my own advice and correct it."
"I have a public persona where I need to be fun all the time, and I refuse to be a hypocrite. I felt I needed to get help, not only for myself but also for my fans. My worst fear in life is to be fake."

Cara Delevingne Slams Vogue Writer Plum Sykes for Telling Tall Tales

With a chock-full agenda and plenty of international frequent flyer miles under her belt, Cara Delevingne could certainly be forgiven for feeling worn out these days.
However, during her recent interview with Vogue's Plum Sykes, the English supermodel was accused of sleeping through meetings not once, but twice.
Sykes emphasized the fact that Cara was uber-late for their meeting and blamed her tardiness on sleeping through her alarm.
When they actually got started, Delevingne confessed that she’s hoping to break out into Hollywood in a major way. “I love acting. I do it as a hobby. If I was able to have that as a career. . . . Hopefully the fashion thing is a stepping-stone. I was so worried when I started modeling that it would hinder my chances of acting.”
Cara also noted, “I’d love to work with Tarantino, Scorsese, Sofia Coppola—all of them! I love thrillers and action movies. I love good horror films. I watched them so much when I was younger that I find it impossible to get scared.”
And after falling asleep at the spa where they met up, Cara declared, “I’m so sorry!!! I fall asleep everywhere! Someone recently asked if they could publish a book of pictures of me sleeping, because there are so many.”
Delevingne’s drowsiness has long been attributed her hard-partying lifestyle. However, she doesn’t see it as such a problem. “Well, the going out is more to do with the fact that I am literally jet-lagged all the time. I can’t sleep in the evenings. Most of the pictures people see of me are me going to work events: a Fendi dinner one night, a Prada dinner the next, and working all day. Actually, compared to anyone else my age that I know, I really go out so little.”
After reading the article, Cara was furious and claimed she was completely misrepresented. She tweeted, "Why do people in the industry lie so much???? They would rather see you fail than succeed. What happened to supporting each other?”
“It's even worse when your trying to fight people that have all the power because then you are powerless. All I can say is that I work extremely hard and 'sleeping' is proof that sometimes I work too hard. I apologise for being so ambitious."

Mariah Carey in Out Magazine: “I’m Eternally 12 Years Old”

She has the record sales and sold out shows to prove she’s a massive force in the pop music realm, and Mariah Carey still seems to want more.
In her Out magazine cover story, the “Always Be My Baby” singer explains she’s been obsessed with Marilyn Monroe since she received a copy of Norman Mailer’s biography as a holiday present.
Carey shares, “I couldn’t have been more than 10. I was a reader as a child, believe it or not. It doesn’t go with the ditzy image, I guess. I have too many highlights!”
“Marilyn was reading Nietzsche on the set of Something’s Got to Give. Marilyn Monroe Productions was the first female-owned production company in Hollywood. She paved the way for women in Hollywood, and every single woman owes something to her for that, whether they agree with her image or not,” adds Mariah.
Regarding her upbringing, Carey notes, “As a kid I literally made this pact. There had been some sort of argument with my mom and the man she was dating at the time, and somehow I became a part of it—I was around 8 or 9 years old, and I said, ‘I’m never going to forget how it feels to be a kid, and you can’t be seen or heard.’ It’s as though your opinion doesn’t mean anything, or your feelings are not real.”
And now she can’t get enough of her own kids, Monroe and Moroccan- “Pulling them away from me is so hard. It’s unconditional love, and I never, ever thought I was going to have kids—ever.”
“I remember as a child saying I’m never going to get married; I’m never going to have kids. Here’s the thing: would I have been better off if my parents stayed married? No way. They were miserable together, but the grass is always greener. I feel I had a great childhood in some ways—and that’s an amazing thing to be able to say—but I also feel I didn’t because I was the caretaker and I still am, like it started long before I had any financing.”

Lupita Nyong’o Jumps the Gun on New Lancome Campaign

She’s been super excited about her new gig as the face for Lancome, and Lupita Nyong'o just couldn’t wait for her fans to see her new print ad.
Rather than letting the cosmetics company handle the debut, the “12 Years A Slave” star uploaded the image to Instagram on Tuesday (June 24).
Along with the stunning shot, Lupita added the defiant caption, “The secret I never intended to keep.”
Of her Lancome ambassadorship, Nyong’o told Vogue, "It’s not about conforming to an already established idea of what is beautiful, and I like that ... I am particularly proud to represent [Lancome's] unique vision for women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman’s freedom to be herself."

Queen Elizabeth Checks In on “Game of Thrones” Set

She’s the beloved leader of Great Britain’s Royal Family so it’s no wonder Queen Elizabeth was permitted to visit the set of “Game of Thrones” in Dublin, Ireland on Tuesday (June 24).
As the 88-year-old monarch and her husband Prince Phillip toured the King’s Landing location, show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss served as her personal guides.
Meanwhile, cast member Maisie Williams told Radio 5 Live, “It is extremely exciting but awfully strange, too. I panic a little bit! I don't know if I'm going to talk to her, I'm just going to smile."
And while Queen Elizabeth II was offered a chance to sit on the infamous Iron Throne (comprised of many swords) as Lena Headey, Sophie Turner and Kit Harrington looked on, she reportedly declined.

Emily Ratajkowski Gets Completely Naked for GQ

Looking to broaden her appeal beyond her “Blurred Lines” music video credentials, Emily Ratajkowski is featured on the front of the forthcoming issue of GQ magazine.
The 23-year-old English beauty isn’t afraid to show off what Mother Nature gave her in a series of steamy shots taken on location at a tropical beach.
In her interview, Emily admits she almost didn’t accept the job offer from Robin Thicke’s people, though now she’s glad she did.
"I didn't want to do it at first, but I talked to the director and I understood what it was,” she explained. As for the song itself, “I do like it. But if there's one thing I'd request, it's for people who see me out to not be, like, You're the hottest b*tch in this place. When it comes on in a bar, I run into the bathroom and hide."
Meanwhile, Ms. Ratajkowski parlayed the “Blurred” moment into a feature film role opposite Ben Affleck. “Gone Girl” director David Fincher shared, "I was talking with Ben [Affleck], and what I wanted for the Andie role was someone who could be incredibly divisive among men and women in the audience.”
"We needed somebody where, at the moment she appears, the women are going, 'That is unconscionable and despicable.' And you also have the men going, 'Yes, but...' And so Ben said, 'Yeah, like the girl in the Blurred Lines video.' She was just incredibly mature. She wasn't smitten with being the girl of the moment. She's no bullsh*t. If somebody's gonna ruin their life on a 21-year-old, they have to be special, and she was."

Taylor Schilling Talks Lax "OITNB" Beauty in Allure July 2014: "It's Liberating"

She’s definitely come into her own over the past few years, and Taylor Schilling is featured on the front of Allure magazine’s July 2014 issue.
The “Orange is the New Black” babe flaunts her slim figure and makes eyes at the camera while explaining the joy of playing a prison inmate.
Schilling states, "It's totally liberating. There's freedom in not having to make it about how my jeans fit or what my boobs look like in a top. All I have to do now is play."
Meanwhile, Taylor confesses she had some serious issues growing up- "It was tough at home, and it was tough at school... And my experience was painful, so painful. There was a period of time I had very short hair, and I had glasses, and I was very tall for my age."
And nowadays, "I don't feel bound by my face or my body. I don't feel like that's the biggest gift I have to offer the world. I feel like there are more parts of me to offer than that."
